Sekampung Abadikan

The Dika & Putri character universe

Meet the neighbours

Two people get married. It takes a whole village.

Someone keeps track of all the prep, someone designs the invitation, someone waits for guests to reply, someone greets them at the gate, someone minds the envelopes.

Behind every wedding are lots of people who rarely make it into the photos.

Come and meet the neighbours in Dika & Putri's village.

Where do we start?

Neighbour 1 of 6

Dika & Putri

a.k.a. The Main Characters

Putri: You liked me first, right?

Dika: Wait, me?

Dika and Putri are sure about each other.

When it comes to planning a wedding, though, they're still total wedding newbies. Luckily, the whole village jumps in.

They get one job: write their own love story, from the day they met to the proposal.

The hardest part: deciding who had a crush first.

  • Dika · 29, Bandung
  • Nervous every time someone asks "when?"
  • Putri · 27, Palembang
  • Red notebook always in hand
Collage: a red notebook, an engagement ring in its box, a polaroid illustration of Dika & Putri, and a Love story screen cutout with their sample story.
Passing on: the notebookOver to you, Wenda

Neighbour 2 of 6

Wenda

a.k.a. Wedding Planner

Wenda: Relax, I've ticked it off.

The next-door neighbour who has already helped run three cousins' weddings.

Budget, vendors, wedding savings, even what time the family convoy arrives: it all goes in her notes.

Her one rule: nothing gets missed. Except her own breakfast.

  • 34, Medan
  • A yellow pencil always tucked in her hair
  • Never lets go of her clipboard
Collage: a clipboard with a checklist, a calculator, a piggy bank, and a To-do screen cutout with prep tasks already ticked off.

Neighbour 3 of 6

Desi

a.k.a. Design

Desi: This one is so you two.

Abadikan digital invitation in the Camp theme for Dika & Putri: a glowing tent in a pine forest.

Putri's cousin, a design student with an opinion on every colour.

For Putri's invitation, she kept switching themes late into the night, then went back to her first pick.

Ask her why and the answer never changes: it's called research.

  • 21, Yogyakarta
  • Pink dungarees, tablet in hand
  • Sleeps at 3, wakes at 3
Collage: a fan of colour sample cards, an invitation sketch covered in revision marks, two brushes, and a tablet with two invitation themes from the catalogue.

Neighbour 4 of 6

Bu Rara

a.k.a. RSVP

Bu Rara: Tante Ida's replied. Just three more to go!

Pak Guru, Bu Bidan and Tante Ida replied they're coming, so 3 guests still haven't replied.

Putri's aunt on her mother's side. Since the invitations went out, her phone hasn't left her hand.

She knows who hasn't replied yet, and every one of their reasons.

Bu Rara says it isn't being nosy. It's caring.

  • 55, Palembang
  • Chained glasses always hanging round her neck
  • Knows every guest by name
Collage: a phone and an RSVP screen cutout with an attendance form not yet filled in, a guest list with green boxes, and brown-framed glasses.

Part 3 of 3

The Big Day

Everyone's here

Neighbour 5 of 6

Pak Tamrin

a.k.a. Guestbook

Pak Tamrin: Come on in, you're on the list!

The neighbourhood head (his name even sounds like tamu, "guest") has guarded the village gate since invitations were photocopied.

Back then, all he had was memory: he knew every face in the village.

Now one scan checks each guest in, and Pak Tamrin gets to join the handshakes.

  • 60, Betawi
  • Black peci, white shirt, checked shoulder cloth
  • His voice carries to the end of the lane
Collage: a QR scanner, an old paper guestbook, closed, palm-leaf gate decorations, and a QR check-in screen cutout with a sample guest list.

Neighbour 6 of 6

Om Kadek

a.k.a. Envelopes & Gifts

Om Kadek: Envelopes go through the invite. I'm off to eat!

An old neighbour of Dika's family (Kadek sounds like kado, "gift"). He always got stuck minding the envelope table, too busy to eat.

Now guests send envelopes from the invitation, and each sender's name is recorded automatically.

At last, Om Kadek can queue for the buffet like every other guest.

  • 50, Bali
  • His trusty brown-and-turmeric batik shirt
  • Buffet plate always full
Collage: a guest's phone opening the invitation with a heart envelope peeking out, an Envelopes & gifts screen cutout with no amounts, and a buffet plate.
